The Quality Assurance Unit at UCL Medical School, headed by Ann Glasser, has an important responsibility for ensuring high standards of teaching and learning processes are attained for undergraduate medical programmes. Best practice is celebrated through a number of awards and recognition schemes.
Throughout the year, UCL Medical School students are given the opportunity to nominate teachers who were particularly helpful or inspiring to them during their studies. In 2011-12 students cast over 4000 votes, from which there are 79 award winners. Since 2010-11, students have also been given the opportunity to nominate administrators whom they found particularly helpful and supportive. In 2011-12, there were over 144 votes cast in this category, from which 14 administrators were selected as outstanding.
The results of the votes for the 2011-12 academic year are now out. ‘Top Teachers’ come from across the course and range from junior doctors to Professors. ‘Top Administrators’ span all years and multiple sites. The full list is available on the QA site. Please congratulate all the winners when you see them, and keep your fingers crossed you’ll be on the list next year!
